Moving On Up!
It’s that time of year again when I get to see just how painfully long I’ll have to wait to become a Chicago Bears season ticket holder. I recently received the official rank update package from the Bears Ticket Office and I’m happy to say that I’m really surprised at this years’ movement.
For those of you just getting here, I started the journey to become a Chicago Bears season ticket holder in December of 2009. After joining the season ticket priority list my initial rank was 5,423 and I predicted it would take 19-21 years to become a Bears season ticket holder. Approximately eight month later in August of 2010 I got my first rank update. I moved up to 5,149, a whopping 259 spots! This was good news as I was on my way to getting my tickets.
Earlier this year as the lockout was just taking shape I had estimated a rank change of 10-50 positions. This took into account regular drop offs and the early effects of the lockout. Boy was that estimation off.
I am happy to say I have officially broken the 5,000 barrier and my new rank is 4,905! That’s another movement of 259 spots, the same exact number I moved last year. To put some numbers around these numbers, that represents 4.78% of my original rank, 5.02% of my previous rank, and my calculated time to owning Chicago Bears season tickets is right at 20 years and 11 months.
It looks like I’m right on the money with my initial range of 19-21 years. While it’s great to see my estimation is holding strong, I have to say that sometimes I hate when I’m right. But until I get those tickets you’ll find me glued to a TV every Sunday cheering on our favorite team, the Monsters of the Midway, the Chicago Bears!

Your patience in waiting for your name to come up is amazing. So glad I got mine pre-85 when it was easy. Have you considered just buying resale PSLs instead of waiting?

Mark, I have briefly thought about PSL’s but they’re pretty expensive. I also have access to tickets through my father-in-law who is a STH, so I’m at Soldier Field a couple times a year already. Besides, if I purchased PSL’s, I wouldn’t have a 20-year story to tell you guys!

I’m in the 1400s now. Soon enough, I’ll be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Although I bleed navy & orange, I must admit that I don’t know what “PSLs” are. Would someone care to learn me a few things so I can impress my friends with this new found knowledge? Bear Down.

I’m ashamed that I haven’t posted about this very topic yet. Look for a post soon!
